If you are eligible for and agree to be treated under the NTPF:
- All treatment offered will be provided free of charge and will not affect your medical card entitlements;
- Your records will be transferred by the hospital where you are on the waiting list to the doctor/hospital where your treatment will be provided;
- An NTPF liaison officer from your hospital will let you know where your proposed treatment will take place;
- You will then be contacted by the NTPF liaison officer in the hospital where your treatment will take place. He/she will give you a date for your operation and advise on any preparations that you need to make before your are admitted to hospital;
- Your treatment will be provided in a hospital that has been visited by a clinical control team;
- In most cases it is expected that you will
be discharged home to the care of your GP and the hospital will give you a
letter for him/her. If it is necessary for you to have a follow up out-patient
appointment with the consultant who treated you the liaison officer in your
treating hospital will arrange this.
