Letter or Phone Call from the NTPF

Types of Correspondence from the NTPF

If you are on a public waiting list you may receive:

  • A letter or phone call from the NTPF to offer you a consultation or treatment in a private hospital
  • A letter from your Public Hospital to ask if you wish to remain on the waiting list. This letter is facilitated by the NTPF

An offer of consultation in a private hospital

If you have been referred to a specialist in a public hospital for consultation, and are awaiting an appointment, you may receive an offer of an Outpatient appointment in a private hospital from the NTPF. Patients who have rejected such an offer may get a follow-up phone call. Find out how to respond if you receive an offer of a consultation from the NTPF.

An offer of treatment in a private hospital

If you are awaiting treatment in a public hospital, including for an endoscopy examination, you may receive an offer of treatment in a private hospital from the NTPF. This may be for treatment as a Day Case where no overnight stay is expected, or as an Inpatient where at least one overnight stay is expected. Find out how to respond if you receive an offer of treatment from the NTPF.

An enquiry to confirm if you wish to remain on the waiting list

To ensure that waiting list data is accurate and up-to-date, the NTPF regularly contacts patients on public waiting lists to confirm they still require access to hospital care.

You can respond to a letter online or by post using the free post return envelope provided.
