The NTPF’s National Waiting List Protocols provide guidance to hospital staff working in scheduled care or waiting list management to enable a consistent, standardised and user-friendly approach to the active management and scheduling of patients awaiting access to care.
Our aim is to ensure that patients seeking access are administratively managed in a safe, timely, fair and equitable manner while waiting. National Protocols promote clear governance, quality patient information, equity of access, national standardisation, efficiency, and improved wait times for patients.

This protocol is a refresh of the waiting list management component of ‘The Management of Outpatient Services 2.1, OSPIP 2014’ and incorporates recent changes in Outpatient (OP) Waiting List Management.

This protocol is the first national protocol developed to support waiting list management in a Radiology Diagnostics setting. It builds upon the foundations established in the National Outpatient and the National Inpatient, Day Case, Planned Procedures and GI Endoscopy Waiting List Protocols.
