The NTPF is an independent public body, undertaking diverse roles within the Irish Health Care System. These include Contract Management with Nursing Homes, Commissioning of consultations and treatments for patients, assisting hospitals in the standardisation of waiting list management by providing protocols and undertaking audits, validation of waiting lists through direct correspondence with patients, and publication of waiting list data on a monthly basis.

Board Members

Valerie Bowens
Board Member

Valerie was first appointed to the NTPF Board on 25^th May 2023 and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Valerie is a Chairperson and Independent Non-Executive Director, having served on a range of boards and committees since 2013, including public sector bodies, membership bodies, regulatory bodies, and regulated financial services firms.

She is also an experienced member of Audit, Risk and Governance Committees, also Disciplinary Tribunals and Conduct Committees.
She has extensive senior management experience, specialising in Compliance, Risk, and Governance, over more than 30 years. Executive positions include Senior Regulator with the Central Bank of Ireland, Director of Regulation and Compliance with a leading law firm, Managing Director with a global bank, and Chief Compliance Officer for a range of regulated firms, including asset managers, banks and investment firms.

Valerie holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Business Studies, Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Services Law, Advanced Diploma in Risk Management, and Professional Diploma in Sustainable Finance, all from UCD, as well as an Institute of Directors’ qualification.
