National Inpatient, Day Case, Planned Procedure (IDPP) and GI Endoscopy Waiting List Management Protocol 2024 

This protocol is a refresh of the 2017 National Inpatient, Day Case, and Planned Procedure (IDPP) Waiting List Management Protocol. This protocol is intended to provide updated guidance, and ensure there is a consistent and standardised approach to the management and scheduling of patients on Inpatient, Day Case, Planned Procedure and GI Endoscopy waiting lists within each hospital and across hospital groups/HSE Health Regions.

The purpose of this protocol is to ensure that patients seeking access to IDPP and GI Endoscopy services are administratively managed in a safe, timely, fair and equitable manner.

Programme 1 - Training Support Programme for Acute Operations Scheduled Care (IDPP)

This e-learning programme operates in tandem with the National Treatment Purchase Fund 2017 National Inpatient, Day Case and Planned Procedure(IDPP) Waiting List Management Protocol.

This programme comprises of 4 modules:
Module 1 - Overview of Waiting List Management
Module 2 - Adding a Patient to a Waiting List
Module 3 - Cancellations, Did not Attend (DNA) and Suspension
Module 4 - Removing a Patient from a Waiting List

It is a resource for all new and existing staff working in an Acute Hospital within a scheduled care environment The programme offers staff an easy, accessible tool to acquire new knowledge and update their existing knowledge around Inpatient, Day Case waiting list management.

Programme 2 - GI Endoscopy Waiting List Management Protocol

This programme explains the fundamentals of GI Endoscopy waiting list management. The module will build on what you have learned in the IDPP Support Programme for Acute Operations Scheduled Care.

The module has been designed by the HSE, NTPF and the National Endoscopy Programme to support both new and existing staff working in GI Endoscopy. It has been developed for all staff, both clinical and non-clinical, working in GI Endoscopy waiting list management. Once the module has been completed, staff can refer to specific topics within the module if required.
